Linear passages towards the sea, with the renewal of Geddes' historic Nordau boulevard.

Project Name

Nordau Boulevard

Nordau Boulevard is located between Ibn Gabirol Street on the east and Independence Park on the west.
Among the five of Geddes’ historic boulevards, Nordau comes closest to the beach – so the sea is present along its entirety.
Central to the boulevards renovation was our desire to maintain its ‘natural’ characteristic, by maintaining the ground as natural planters while introducing new demarcations for pedestrians and cyclists, in a classic boulevard section.
The limestone concrete reinforces the natural color palette and sands materiality.

The boulevard’s design consists of three segments:
1. The first – the historic Ficus trees on site, offer a natural canopy, we did not try to compete with the existing.
2. The second – originally Ashalim trees that were not salvageable, we planted sea-side shrubs and waterfont vegetation to define new linear routes, reversing the
Original central circulation to two double loaded paths.
3. Third area – from Ben Yehuda Street to the sea.

There is a change in the buildings’ scale. From residential buildings along the avenue to hotels.
Washingtonia palm trees, forming part of the Mediterranean seaside culture marks the boulevards terminus, with a bicycle docking station that was added later and the last cantine before the beach.
